Single Phase Flow
Pressure difference is the driving force for fluid flow. Estimating pressure drop is critical for Flow Assurance to determine the deliverability of the system (the production achievable from the system). There are 3 types of pressure drops
- Frictional pressure drop: The frictional pressure drop through a pipe is a function of diameter and the roughness, length of the pipe, shape and size of the pipe fitting and the type of flow.
- Gravitational pressure drop: The change in pressure if the pipe elevation changes from the start to the end.
